Mueller Airport Development Bordered by 35, Airport Blvd., Manor Rd, 51st St .
The site of the former airport, vacated in 1999, is currently being developed into a fabulous “urban village” by Catellus Development. It includes a wide variety of homes (including affordable housing) and a mix of retail. Some stores in the regional retail center are already open. The first residents will move in around the first of the year. The town center will have a variety of shops and restaurants. Parklands are an important part of the design. The Dell Children’s Hospital is operating, and there will be medical/administrative offices and a research facility. The builders received at least 6 times the qualified applicants as available homes for the first phase. I was told to expect a 20% price increase for the 2nd phase. The whole area surrounding the Mueller development is booming.
